The Executive Board meets three times each year. The fall meeting is the first Friday in November at the host location of the upcoming conference and includes a tour of the campus for the Executive Board. The spring meeting is held on the first Friday in June at a central location in Columbus (TBA).
The November and June meetings run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The final meeting of the Executive Board is held on the Friday of the conference weekend. The annual business meeting, which is open to all OCA Members, is held as a part lunch on the Saturday of conference weekend.
Michelle B. Coleman (M.A., University of Illinois) is a professor of Communication at Clark State Community College in Springfield, Ohio where she serves at the course coordinator. The Executive Director is a position that is appointed by the Executive Committee, and serves a term of three to five years.
Tammy Bosley (M.A., Ball State University) is an instructor at Lorain County Community College in Elyria, Ohio where she serves as the program coordinator for the communication program. Tammy is a doctoral candidate at Kent State University with an emphasis on interpersonal and health communication. President is an elected position, and serves a term of two years.
Amber Ferris (Ph.D., Kent State University) is an assistant professor of Communication at The University of Akron Wayne College. Ferris’ current research focuses on the effects of dependency with respect to social media and technology. The Journal Editor is a position that is appointed by the Executive Committee, and serves for a period of two years. The Vice President is an elected position that serves for two years and then moves into the President position for two years. Amber was elected in 2018.
Liane Gray-Starner (M.A., Western Kentucky University; Ph.D. Ohio University) is the President of GrayStar Communication, a multi-national training and development firm. Liane was OCA President from 2016-2018.
Laura Russell (Ohio University) is an associate professor of Communication at Denison University. The Associate Journal Editor is a position that is appointed by the Executive Committee, serves for a period of two years, and then advances to the position of Journal Editor.
Alyssa N. Fisher (M.S., Arts Management, University of Oregon) is currently a doctoral student in media and communication at Bowling Green State University. Her research interests lie in the convergence of traditional and emerging media. The Communication Coordinator is a position that is appointed by the Executive Committee, and serves a two year term. Alyssa was appointed in 2017.
Elycia Taylor (M.A., West Virginia University) is Lead Instructor of Business and Technical Communication at Columbus State Community College. She also is a Doctoral Candidate at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Conference coordinator is an appointed position. Elycia was appointed in 2018.
Jeff Tyus (Ph.D., Ohio University) is an associate professor of Communication at Youngstown State University.Tyus teaches traditional and online courses in Intercultural Communication, Media Relations, among others. The Awards Coordinator is a position that is appointed by the Executive Committee.
Dan O’Neill (Ph.D., Michigan State University) is a professor of communication at Youngstown State University. District Representative is an elected position, and serves a two year term. Dan was elected in 2017.
Shawn (M.A., The University of Akron) is a doctoral candidate at Kent State University in the College of Communication and Information. His areas of research include interpersonal communication, family communication, and health communication. More specifically, he examines how parents and children discuss topics and manage privacy regarding mental health and how that influences those family members. The Southeast District Representative is an elected position and serves a two year term. Shawn was elected in 2017.
Cody M. Clemens (M.A., Duquesne University) is a visiting professor at Marietta College in Marietta, OH, and a doctoral candidate at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH. District Representative is an elected position, and serves a two year term. He was elected 2018.
Erin Hollenbaugh (Ph.D., Kent State University) is an associate professor of communication studies at Kent State University at Stark. Hollenbaugh’s research primarily explores social media from an interpersonal perspective. The Sponsorship Coordinator is a position that is appointed by the Executive Committee.
Jerry D. Feezel (PhD University of Wisconsin) is emeritus professor of Communication Studies at Kent State University. Jerry is a past president and received awards from the association when it was SCAO. His research and teaching focuses on communication education, language, aging, and intercultural/international communication. The Archivist is a position that is appointed by the Executive Committee.
